Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They are posing as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police force, fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer appear in your area.
