Garda Region Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
