Garda region scam: false Carabinieri pose as law enforcement to trick businesses
They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to Recognize Scams and How to React
They often offer subscriptions to magazines that do not exist or that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
would have money, but no longer shows up.
