Garda Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Offer Unrelated Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

had the amount of money, then disappear.
