Gardone Riviera hosted an important lakebed cleanup initiative yesterday, Sunday, September 21, organized by the Deep Explorers association with the support of the local municipality. Approximately 70 divers from various cities in northern Italy participated, diving to retrieve all kinds of waste, including car tires, rusty chairs, and even a ceramic toilet. The event served not only as an opportunity to clean the waters but also to raise community awareness about environmental protection. During the ecological day, elementary school students from Gardone had the chance to observe the collected waste displayed along the lakeside and participate in a morning dedicated to cleaning green areas in collaboration with Legambiente’s “Let’s Clean Up the World” campaign. This initiative highlighted the importance of environmental awareness and collective commitment to safeguarding lake ecosystems, actively engaging the younger generations in the fight against pollution.
