The modernization and safety enhancement works at the Salionze dam are progressing at a steady pace, having commenced last November. These interventions, with a total value exceeding 20 million euros, are part of a project aimed at strengthening the functionality of the overflow system, a crucial hydraulic infrastructure for regulating the water levels of the lake. Managed by AIPo (Interregional Agency for the Po River), the works are funded by the Pnrr and involve several institutions, including the Lombardy Region, the Veneto Region, and the Autonomous Province of Trento.
The operations include seismic upgrading and the replacement of the dam’s barriers, thereby improving the efficiency of the hydraulic system that manages the waters of Lake Garda and Mantua. Citizens can follow the progress through a video created by Ilaria Ercolani, an AIPO official, which illustrates the maneuvers necessary to manage the water flow towards the Mincio River and the surrounding irrigation canals.
