Municipal Company Operations Under Control, Mayor Responds to Criticism
“The int. Dep. Cast. is under control, and the councilors who wish to have clarifications regarding operational or managerial aspects need only submit official requests or questions: the mayor will respond promptly.” Arturo Sigurtà does not agree with the volley of statements concerning the activities allegedly carried out by the municipal enterprise of the Municipality.
Reactions of the mayor and clarification on the practices
These practices have recently sparked protests from opposition forces. The mayor, who claims to have also summoned President Belluzzi regarding his statements to the press, assures that the company operates under the strict supervision of himself and the administration.
“It is true that the company’s board members do not include the minority, but the minority knows that I am an open book and that, if they have questions, they only need to ask me. I have always responded, I believe, thoroughly to questions in the city council.
Regarding our municipal company, I must say that its operations are conducted under control and in line with the administration’s views. I have reprimanded the president for his statements: I believe that, despite everything, he should not engage in political disputes but focus on managing the company in the best way.”
Statements and guidelines of the mayor
Regarding his statements made in recent days, when he spoke of “wrapping frogs,” the mayor clarifies the terms of what he wrote: “I have always said that the majority I lead is very heterogeneous and has different political components. It is certainly not easy to align them all, and therefore there are situations where the mayor must accept decisions, even if he does not fully agree with them.”
There are, however, two commandments for my term. The first is that I absolutely do not accept political U-turns, even if the minority’s contribution is welcome: the core of this coalition must always remain the same.
The second is that, given the damage that a commissarial management can cause, everything should be done to complete the current legislature.”
