As of August 2, a new limit for has come into effect in Trentino, increasing from 2 to 3 kilograms per person. This change was introduced through the budget adjustment law for the 2025-2027 forecast of the Autonomous Province of Trento, allowing mushroom enthusiasts to benefit from this modification immediately. The provincial councilor for forests, Roberto Failoni, emphasized that the update aims to address the needs of foragers while ensuring respect for the local ecosystem, which is rich in biodiversity.
The rules regarding foraging remain unchanged: mushrooms can be collected by residents and those born in the municipalities of the province, as well as by forest owners. Non-residents can also participate in foraging, provided they obtain municipal authorization and pay a fee. It is important to adhere to the established hours (from 7 AM to 7 PM) and to use rigid, ventilated containers for transporting mushrooms. Additionally, tools such as rakes or hooks that could damage the natural environment during collection are prohibited.
