Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Avoid Detection

The Carabinieri are impersonated when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the carabinieri.

These perpetrators are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
