Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines linked to the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

had the money, then disappears without a trace.
