Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when phoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or municipal guards.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, if they had money, no longer shows themselves.
