Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, will disappear and not be seen again.
