Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Entrepreneurs

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not real military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or to publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,

after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
