Scammers Impersonate Law Enforcement in Garda Area, Warns Police

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

These are not actual members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Identifying scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have no connection whatsoever to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer appear in person.
