Scammers Impersonate Police and Criminals Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when telephoning hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize the scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

when they have the amount of money, disappear and do not show up again.
