The search for a missing hiker who has been unaccounted for for 12 days is intensifying in the area of Ferrara di Monte Baldo. The man, a 76-year-old experienced walker and enthusiast of World War history, was reported missing on October 19 by a friend. Rescue operations, carried out by the Veneto Alpine and Speleological Rescue, only commenced recently due to a series of circumstances that delayed the activation of the relevant authorities. The hiker’s vehicle, belonging to his deceased brother, was found in a clearing along the road to Novezza. Currently, the search efforts are focused on a wide area to the northwest of where the car was located, with hopes of finding the man who may be searching for trenches or military tunnels in the region. In addition to the Alpine Rescue, the Fire Brigade, Carabinieri, and various Civil Protection associations are also involved. The base camp for the operations is situated in front of the Municipality of Ferrara di Monte Baldo. Anyone with useful information is encouraged to contact the Carabinieri in Caprino.
