Sirmione raised the Blue Flag at Jamaica Beach on Saturday, June 21, marking an important milestone for the local community. The ceremony took place at the beach, attended by notable figures such as Giorgio Maione, Regional Councillor for Environment and Climate, Luisa Lavelli, Mayor of Sirmione, and Flora Berizzi, Director of the Archaeological Area of the Grotte di Catullo. This recognition was awarded to Jamaica Beach for excellence in water quality and commitment to environmental sustainability.
The event also featured a non-competitive swim of 1500 meters called Sunset Swim, which started from Jamaica Beach at sunset. This activity is part of the open water swimming event SwimtheIsland, further promoting the value of the region’s natural heritage and community involvement in environmental protection.
