Palo della Cuccagna in Lazise: tradition and summer events

On Saturday, July 19th, at 9:00 PM, **Lazise** will host the **89th Palo della Cuccagna del Cadenon**, a highly anticipated summer event that attracts numerous participants and spectators each year. Four teams will compete to seize the flag placed at the top of a slippery pole, turning the traditional game into an exciting and spectacular contest. The teams represent the historic areas of Porta San Zeno, Porta del Lion, Porta Cansignorio, and Boca del Porto.

The competition has deep roots in local culture, originally featuring a vertical pole adorned with food trophies to grab. Today, the pole has been adapted to a horizontal position and coated in grease, making the challenge even more thrilling as participants attempt to run barefoot to reach the coveted flag. This event not only celebrates popular tradition but also represents one of the highlights of the summer in Lazise.
