Spring Cord and Toll: Salvini reassures Montichiari in 2025

The debate surrounding the Toll on the Corda Molle has gained new developments following statements made by the Minister of Transport, Matteo Salvini. During the question time on July 16 in the Chamber of Deputies, he confirmed that "no toll will be introduced on the Corda Molle for all of 2025." This response came in the wake of an inquiry by deputy Fabrizio Benzoni from the Azione party, who raised concerns regarding the government’s handling of the issue. The 29-kilometer motorway connection links Montichiari to Ospitaletto and has been the subject of numerous parliamentary questions.

Benzoni described the situation as a "saga" that has been ongoing for two years and highlighted Salvini’s previous statements regarding the commitment to avoid the toll. During his address, the minister explained that the potential introduction of the toll stems from an agreement signed in 2017 with the concessionaire company Autovia Padana. He also reiterated his determination to find legal solutions to prevent what he considers a burden for commuters and promised a continuous effort to keep the Corda Molle toll-free.
