The Committee to Keep the Hospital on Montecroce has raised concerns regarding the management of the construction of the new hospital in Desenzano del Garda, accusing the Assembly of Mayors of failing to fulfill its role in safeguarding public health. In a communication dated May 15, 2025, the committee contested the claims made by President Lavelli, asserting that the assembly lacks the authority to discuss the new healthcare facility, arguing that such an interpretation amounts to an abdication of institutional responsibilities. The Committee intends to send a formal letter requesting an urgent meeting of the Assembly to obtain the mandatory opinion required by the regulations.
Furthermore, the Committee is calling for the convening of a public assembly to ensure citizen participation in decisions regarding the hospital project. The request emphasizes the importance of involving local communities in strategic issues that will impact the healthcare organization of the area in the coming decades. If they do not receive a response within 30 days, committee members have announced that they will proceed with reports to the relevant authorities and legal actions to protect citizens’ rights to participate.
