Car theft escape in Lonato: arrested by the Local Police
On the morning of Monday, August 4th, two individuals were arrested by the Local Police of Lonato following a chase that occurred within the municipality. The situation began when a patrol intercepted a car lacking a valid inspection sticker, thanks to the license plate reading system. Despite the officers’ signal to stop, the driver accelerated, initiating a pursuit that lasted approximately 10 kilometers. The chase concluded on Via San Polo, where the vehicle collided with the Local Police car.
After the impact, the two occupants attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended by the officers, one of whom sustained injuries deemed to be recoverable within 15 days during the struggle. Subsequent investigations revealed that the car was stolen and had tampered license plates; a knife was also found inside the vehicle. The detainees, both with criminal records, have been charged with violence and resistance against a public official, receiving stolen goods, illegal possession of a knife, and alteration of license plates. They are currently in custody awaiting a fast-track trial by the Judicial Authority.
