The Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Peschiera del Garda have launched an important safety operation in the area, intensifying controls in anticipation of the summer tourist influx. On the evening of Thursday, August 7, several patrols conducted checkpoints on the main access roads to coastal towns such as Peschiera, Castelnuovo del Garda, and Valeggio sul Mincio. The primary objective was to combat driving under the influence of drugs and to ensure greater safety for both residents and tourists, with checks on vehicles and individuals.
During the operation, the officers reported a 56-year-old for violating a mandatory travel restriction and a 24-year-old for illegal possession of narcotics, having found 30 grams of hashish in his possession. Additionally, two other individuals were reported to the Prefecture of Verona for personal drug use. In total, 34 vehicles were checked and 56 individuals were identified. The services will continue to be intensified until the end of the month, with the aim of maintaining high safety in the area and preventing potential predatory crimes.
