Surprise inspections at a construction site in Volta Mantovana have led to the indictment of a 67-year-old entrepreneur, accused of serious irregularities related to undeclared work and site safety. The operation was carried out by the local Carabinieri in collaboration with inspectors from the Carabinieri Labor Inspectorate of Mantova. During the inspection, a worker was found employed without a regular contract, immediately triggering accusations of using undeclared labor.
The deficiencies uncovered were not limited to the absence of a contract: the worker had not received the mandatory pre-employment medical examination nor had he been enrolled in the training course for “high-risk” environments. Furthermore, the company had not prepared the Operational Safety Plan (POS), an essential document for any construction site, and minimum safety measures had not been implemented during excavation operations. As a result of the violations found, administrative fines exceeding 20,000 euros were imposed, and a complaint was filed with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Mantova against the company’s owner.
