Undeclared Work and Illicit Trade: 15 Businesses Suspended in the Brescia Area. Recent operations by the Guardia di Finanza have uncovered a widespread phenomenon of undeclared work in the province, particularly in tourist areas from Lake Garda to Val Camonica and Lake Iseo. During the inspections, 90 workers were identified as being completely “off the books,” with an additional 30 lacking proper contracts, five of whom were found to be in a situation of irregularity. The violations led to the suspension of 15 commercial establishments in the tourism and catering sectors, where breaches of fiscal and labor regulations were particularly severe.
Significant tax violations were also recorded during the inspections: a bed & breakfast was found to be lacking declarations for over €85,000 related to unregistered stays, alongside 36 instances of failing to issue fiscal receipts. Additionally, approximately 5 kilograms of shisha tobacco were seized for being sold without authorization. Lastly, the Customs Agency revealed the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages to minors under 16 and tobacco products to underage individuals by operators lacking the necessary licenses.
