Hiker injury at Rocca del Garda: urgent air rescue intervention
An accident occurred on the trail to Rocca del Garda on Wednesday, August 27, involving a 52-year-old German tourist. While hiking with her husband and a group of friends, the woman fell and sustained a suspected ankle fracture around noon. The 118 Operations Center immediately activated the Verona Alpine Rescue, which dispatched a team to the scene while an operator positioned themselves in Rivoli to support the Garda Air Rescue, which took off shortly thereafter to reach the hiker in a remote wooded area.
Once located, medical personnel and a technician from the Alpine Rescue were lowered by winch to provide her with the necessary first aid. Subsequently, the woman was hoisted up via winch and transported to Peschiera Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
