Fire in a building in Riva del Garda: families evacuated after lightning strike
A fire broke out in a building in Riva del Garda last night, triggered by a lightning strike that hit the roof of the structure during a violent storm. The alert was raised around 11:50 PM on Via Pola, leading to the evacuation of nine families as the flames rapidly spread to the attic and stairwell. Approximately 30 firefighters from Riva and Arco responded with three fire engines, a ladder truck, and support vehicles to tackle the emergency.
During the firefighting operations, a gas leak was also discovered due to damage to the pipes. Thanks to the prompt intervention of the teams, the situation was brought under control by 2:30 AM. Local police, state police, and Mayor Alessio Zanoni were also present on-site to coordinate the efforts, allowing some families to return to their homes while others awaited further assessments of the building’s stability.
