Lazise mourns Daniele Dorizzi: an athlete of solidarity

The funeral of Daniele Dorizzi, held on Thursday the 28th, saw the participation of numerous friends and supporters in Colà di Lazise. The athlete from the transplant national team, who passed away at the age of 58 after returning from the World Transplant Games, was remembered for his generosity and fighting spirit. During the homily, Father Enrico De Stefani emphasized how Daniele managed to combine his sporting victories with humility and gentleness, highlighting the significance of his life message following a kidney transplant he underwent in 2006.

The church was filled with banners from the Organ Donors Association and members of the sports group Le Sgalmare, where Dorizzi served as president. Among those present were local authorities, including Mayor Damiano Bergamini and the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, who expressed deep condolences for the loss of a symbol of courage and hope. At the end of the ceremony, a strong round of applause accompanied the exit of the coffin from the church, while adverse weather conditions prevented the funeral procession from proceeding to its final resting place.
