Fundraising in Lonato for the restoration of damaged churches
Lonato is at the center of an urgent fundraising campaign for the restoration of ten churches that were severely damaged by hail in July 2023. The Parish, with its coffers now nearly empty, has made an appeal to the faithful to gather the necessary funds to cover the significant expenses incurred for roof repairs and other structural interventions. The work, which began at the start of the year and is set to conclude in January, amounts to approximately 600,000 euros, of which only half will be reimbursed by insurance.
Today, a special collection will be held to support the restorations of the Pieve of San Zeno and San Cipriano, as well as the small churches of San Tomaso and Malocco. This initiative complements the “Donate a Tile a Month” project, which invites participants to contribute monthly through a continuous bank transfer. Additionally, the Parish will organize a celebration on September 20 at the Paolo VI Oratory to thank the volunteers involved in community activities.
