Illness in the water in Manerba: 83-year-old German tourist dies
A tragic incident occurred on the late afternoon of Monday, September 1, when an 83-year-old German tourist lost his life due to a medical emergency in the water. The accident took place near the Rio campsite, not far from the Torchio harbor. The alarm was raised shortly before 6:00 PM when some beachgoers noticed the man in distress and brought him back to shore while alerting emergency services.
On-site were the Carabinieri of Manerba, an ambulance from the Garda Volunteers, and an air ambulance from Brescia. Despite the resuscitation efforts made by both the beachgoers and the rescuers, the tourist could not be saved and was pronounced dead due to natural causes.
