Lido di Lonato: bathing ban due to water quality
A swimming ban has been imposed at the Lido di Lonato due to non-compliance with water quality, as announced by the Municipality following results from health authorities at Ats Brescia. The ordinance, signed by Mayor Roberto Tardani, will remain in effect until necessary retests are conducted to ascertain the suitability for bathing. Recent heavy rains have overwhelmed the water and sewage system, leading to the release of pollutants into the lake, including bacteria such as Enterococci and Escherichia coli.
The Councillor for Ecology, Christian Simonetti, specified that the ban will only be lifted after two consecutive positive sampling results. Monitoring to ensure compliance with the ordinance has been entrusted to the local police and law enforcement agencies. Meanwhile, the heavy rains have also caused disruptions in other municipalities around the lower Garda, including significant damage in Lonato 2, where strong winds have compromised the fencing of the soccer field, creating potential hazards for passersby and necessitating urgent action from the Municipality.
