Bathing prohibited in Lonato del Garda: water quality compromised

Following recent analyses conducted by Ats Brescia, swimming has been prohibited at Lido di Lonato del Garda. Inspections of the lake water quality revealed levels of Escherichia coli and Enterococci exceeding the permitted limits, indicative of fecal contamination from sewage discharges. The heavy rains that have affected the area in recent days have been identified as the primary cause of the contamination, as they facilitated the dispersion of sewage into the lake.

In response to these findings, the municipality has issued an ordinance temporarily prohibiting access to the water until further notice. Local authorities plan to conduct new analyses in the coming hours: the first will be performed after 72 hours, with subsequent tests taking place a week later. The ban will only be lifted if the parameters return to normal limits, thus ensuring safety for bathers.
