Ukrainian Archers and Scouts: A Brotherhood of Peace and Friendship

Arco welcomed Ukrainian scouts from Žytomyr at the town hall, marking a significant partnership that allowed 20 young people aged between 12 and 16 to spend two weeks away from the tensions of war. The initiative, promoted by Agesci Arco 1, materialized with the arrival of the youths on August 18, following a long bus journey. During their stay, the participants engaged in scouting activities in the Val D’Algone and visited iconic sites such as the Arco Castle and the beaches of Riva del Garda.

Mayor Arianna Fiorio and Youth Policy Councillor Mattia Mascher expressed their gratitude for this opportunity for connection, emphasizing the importance of brotherhood and peace during such challenging times. Oksana Antonevska, one of the leaders of the Ukrainian scouts, thanked the hosts for their warm welcome, highlighting how the experience fostered meaningful bonds despite language barriers. The departure for Žytomyr is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, with the local scouts preparing to bid farewell to their guests with a care package for the journey home.
