In recent days, agents from the State Police of the Public Security Commissioner of Desenzano del Garda carried out a significant arrest, capturing a 54-year-old Polish man wanted for tax evasion and money laundering. The operation took place within a hotel facility in Sirmione, where the man was located following a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by British authorities. The warrant had been issued after the individual was convicted by the Birmingham Crown Court and was subject to an extradition arrest order.
The arrest exemplifies the international cooperation between Italian law enforcement and those of the United Kingdom, highlighting the effectiveness of security and justice mechanisms between the two countries. After the necessary bureaucratic and identification procedures, the individual was transferred to the “Nerio Fischione” Prison in Brescia, where he will await his extradition to British authorities.
