Hiking on Pizzoccolo: Alpine rescue intervention necessary
On the evening of Saturday, the 6th, a rescue operation was carried out for three hikers in difficulty on the Pizzoccolo, at an altitude of about 1100 meters. Technicians from the Valle Sabbia Station, part of the CNSAS (National Alpine Rescue Corps), were activated around 9:00 PM by the SOREU of the Alps after the individuals became stranded in a rugged area between two ridges. One person was situated higher than the other two, who were located lower down.
Three experienced alpine rescuers, assisted by firefighters, managed to reach the hikers, securing them and bringing them back to the trail. The operation concluded around 1:00 AM. The alpine rescue team emphasizes the importance of carefully selecting appropriate clothing and equipment before embarking on a hike, as well as choosing trails suited to one’s abilities to ensure personal safety and that of the rescuers.
