Inclusive sailing in Desenzano del Garda: success of the disabled championship
The XVI Interprovincial Championship for Disabled Sailors took place in Desenzano del Garda, culminating in the victory of Team 2 from the Anffas Foundation of Desenzano-Rivoltella, consisting of educator Sara Rizzini and sailors Alessandro Tuterti and Valentino Boschetto. The event, part of the Inclusive Sailing initiative “Unveiling Without Barriers,” saw the participation of various local associations that fielded crews made up of individuals with disabilities, educators, and observers. Despite adverse weather conditions forcing the organizers to cancel the final trials, the championship reaffirmed its success as a model of social inclusion.
The event also featured social moments, including a communal lunch and an emotionally charged awards ceremony, during which several trophies were presented, including the Challenge Trophy Luigina Bressanelli Iozzi. Local institutional figures attended the ceremony and expressed their appreciation for the importance of the event in promoting inclusion through sailing. Gianluigi Zeni, president of the Dielleffe Nautical Group, emphasized the necessity of continuing to advance projects like this to ensure opportunities for all.
