Karate and international sport: the Garda Karate Team in Salzburg
Alice and Gaia, two young athletes from the Garda Karate Team, recently participated in the first Series A karate competition, held in Salzburg from September 5 to 7. The event, organized by the World Karate Federation (WKF), featured over 1,200 athletes from 82 countries, with a significant Italian representation of nearly 150 karateka. The two girls competed in the kumite categories of -61 kg for Alice and -68 kg for Gaia at the Sporthalle Alpenstrasse, facing some of the strongest international competitors.
Although they did not manage to reach the podium on this occasion, the team’s instructors emphasized the importance of the experience gained by the athletes. They highlighted how each competition represents a personal challenge and an opportunity to reflect on preparation and teamwork. The officials of the Garda Karate Team expressed their pride in seeing Alice and Gaia on the tatami, affirming that the true value lies in the commitment and determination demonstrated during the international sporting event.
