Safety Navigation on Lake Garda: Results of the Lake Police Operation
The operation “SecureLake 2025” has concluded, conducted by the naval component of the Guardia di Finanza, which took place during the summer on the large lakes of northwestern Italy, with particular focus on the Benaco basin. The activity aimed to ensure navigational safety and to enhance the sense of security among lake users. During the 148 inspections carried out, 84 irregularities were identified, resulting in fines totaling approximately 53,000 euros.
The most common violations pertain to a lack of awareness regarding navigational safety regulations, with an increase in cases of speeding, especially with jet skis. A total of 144 police checks were also conducted, which led to the rescue of 11 individuals in emergency situations. Operations will continue throughout the year to ensure ongoing vigilance and compliance with regulations among boaters, who can receive a “blue sticker” if their vessels meet the required safety equipment standards for navigating at sea.
