New lakeside promenade in Desenzano: investment for tourism and renewed walkway

The project for the new lakeside promenade in Desenzano is entering a decisive phase with the commencement of work on the third phase, scheduled for October and financed with an investment of over 2 million euros. This intervention marks the final act of an initiative that began in 2017, but has been discussed since 2011, involving four municipal administrations. The new promenade in Desenzano, which will stretch for 200 meters from Via Gramsci to Vicolo Lavandaie, is expected to be completed by next spring and will feature a consistent width of 9 meters, including bike paths and green areas.

The project will utilize high-quality materials such as Tonalite granite and red marble from Verona, integrating historical elements like the pink granite slabs dating back to the 1930s. An important commemorative installation will honor the historical laundresses with a belvedere and metal statues. Councillor Giovanni Maiolo stated that this intervention is strategic for reclaiming space for people and enhancing tourism in Desenzano, while designer Alberto Visconti emphasized the importance of reconnecting the city with the lake. The total cost of the project amounts to approximately 7.5 million euros.
