An important operation conducted by the Guardia di Finanza took place in the Brescia area, resulting in the seizure of over 3 million potentially dangerous school supplies and toys. During inspections carried out between the end of August and the beginning of September, officers checked 18 commercial establishments, finding irregularities in all the stores visited, including stationery shops and specialized retailers. Among the seized items were rulers lacking the CE marking, pens and compasses missing mandatory information, as well as pencil cases and pencils that did not meet safety standards.
Particularly alarming were two cases in the lower Valcamonica, where 897 imitation plush toys of the famous Chinese dolls “Labubu” were found and seized. These toys lacked the necessary certifications and were suspected of violating intellectual property rights. The owners of the involved stores have been reported for the sale of counterfeit products. The areas most affected by these violations include the capital, the surrounding areas, and the Lake Garda region, with administrative fines exceeding €45,000. The Guardia di Finanza has announced that inspections will continue in the coming weeks to ensure a safe start to the school year for students and families.
