Lombardy: new free health services for health prevention

The Lombardy Region has recently approved a resolution that introduces free healthcare services for health prevention, starting from October 1, 2025. Among the new initiatives are free tests for the early diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea, available at authorized centers. Claudia Carzeri, a regional councilor and member of the Health Commission, emphasized the importance of these modern and rapid tests, which will allow for timely intervention and ensure more effective therapies.

Additionally, the resolution expands the free services available to young people aged 14 to 18 who are under the care of the Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry Units (UONPIA). Families will have access to specialist visits, cognitive assessments, and speech rehabilitation pathways. Carzeri highlighted how these measures represent a significant step towards greater clarity in regulations, reducing bureaucracy and enhancing citizens’ experiences within healthcare services.
