OK Dinghy World Championship in Garda Trentino: races and international participation
The OK Dinghy World Championship has officially kicked off at the Circolo Vela Arco, attracting a record number of 212 competitors from 17 nations, underscoring the significance of Garda Trentino as a host for international sailing events. The inaugural day, Monday the 15th, featured optimal conditions with a south wind reaching up to 16 knots during the first race, followed by a second race with lighter winds. Participants have been divided into three fleets that will compete over three days of qualifying rounds, while Thursday and Friday will be dedicated to the finals.
Among the standout competitors are Canadian Baabii’O Flower and Swedish Niklas Edler, both showing promising performances. The event not only celebrates sporting competition but also highlights nautical tourism, a vital sector for Garda Trentino, which welcomes enthusiasts and families throughout the event. The provisional standings show at least four competitors tied on points at the top, keeping the anticipation high for the upcoming races.
