Desenzano del Garda: a woman armed with a weapon attempts to rob a jewelry store in the city center and then flees. On the morning of Wednesday, September 17, an armed robbery attempt occurred inside a jewelry store located in the heart of the historic center. Around 10 a.m., a woman, apparently a foreigner, entered the shop pretending to be a customer. Once alone with the owner, she locked the front door, threw a bag on the floor, and pulled out a weapon—it’s unclear whether it was real or a toy—threatening the owner to hand over gold valuables. Fortunately, the shopkeeper kept her composure and pretended to comply with the robber’s demands; however, she seized the opportunity to quickly open the door and escape outside to seek help. The armed woman then fled on foot through the streets of the center. The Carabinieri arrived on the scene to begin investigations, and the footage from the surveillance cameras, which captured the criminal’s face, could prove crucial. Although no one was injured in the incident, the episode has raised concerns among local merchants regarding safety in the historic center, prompting them to once again call for interventions from authorities to combat the rise of petty crime in the area.
