Tragedy in Riva del Garda: fatal accident during swim

A tragic incident shook the community of Riva del Garda on September 19, when Eleonora Franceschini, a 48-year-old woman from Besenello, lost her life while enjoying a swim in Lake Garda. In the late afternoon, she dove in to reach the buoys located off the Purfina beach but was unable to return to shore. The alarm was raised by a tourist who spotted the woman’s body resting on the lakebed about twenty meters from the coast. The firefighters responded quickly and brought Eleonora back to shore, where she was found to be in cardiac arrest. Medical personnel attempted to resuscitate her and subsequently transferred her by helicopter to Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento. Unfortunately, during transport, the woman passed away.
