Montichiari and waste abandonment: the mayor’s intervention on the ecological island

An incident of waste dumping has shaken Montichiari, where a citizen left bags of garbage in front of the closed entrance of the recycling center. The report reached Mayor Marco Togni in the late afternoon, complete with photos and the license plate number of the vehicle involved in the act. After initiating an investigation, it was revealed that the perpetrator was a resident with experience in waste management. The mayor contacted him by phone, demanding that he remove the waste within 15 minutes and properly dispose of it the following day; otherwise, a criminal complaint would be filed. Following the phone call, the citizen went to the site and took care of the removal of the abandoned waste. Despite the positive outcome, the mayor emphasized the seriousness of the action: “Dumping waste in this manner is akin to doing so anywhere else in the area.” He also reiterated the importance of adhering to the regulations regarding waste disposal at the recycling center, reminding that those caught engaging in similar acts in the past had faced penalties and had to be escorted by the Local Police to properly dispose of their waste.
