Tignale and the Montecastello Path: a Growing Sustainable Tourism
The Montecastello Trail has been officially inaugurated in Tignale, offering a new route of approximately 8.5 km that combines history, nature, and spirituality. This path retraces the ancient pilgrimage of the statue of the Madonna of Montecastello, winding through significant locations such as the Sanctuary of Montecastello and the Franciscan Hermitage of San Giorgio in Varolo. The initiative aims to promote sustainable tourism in the area, enhancing the cultural and natural heritage of Alto Garda through authentic and off-season experiences. The project has been realized with the support of the Regional ERDF Program 2021-2027 of the Lombardy Region and involves various local entities to ensure an interactive experience along the route. Future actions include the creation of informational signage and a podcast titled “Passi di Tignale,” which will be available starting September 25, 2025. With this trail, Tignale aims to strengthen its identity as a destination for slow tourism, capable of blending culture, spirituality, and respect for the environment. Italian Version
