Online scam in Mantova: student loses 4,000 euros

A 23-year-old student from Mantova was scammed online for €4,000 through a fake job offer, drawn in by a seemingly simple and lucrative proposal. The young woman was added to a group on a messaging platform, where she was asked to perform tasks such as liking videos in exchange for proportional payments. Initially, the scammers gained her trust with small bank transfers, but later they asked her to register on an external platform, requiring her to deposit money to unlock her earned funds. In the end, the student transferred approximately €4,000 before realizing the deception. After discovering the impossibility of withdrawing her earnings and the absence of any real work activity, she reported the incident to the Postal Police in Mantova. Investigations by the Cybersecurity Operational Section led to the identification of the alleged perpetrators: two women residing in the province of Milan and a Ghanaian citizen living in the Cuneo area, who were reported for aggravated fraud using computer tools. Investigators warn about the risks associated with such scams, which employ sophisticated techniques like phishing and psychological manipulation, urging everyone to be wary of offers that promise easy profits and to always verify the reliability of the platforms involved.
