Montichiari: Entrepreneur ambush reveals active criminal network
An ambush took place in Montichiari on March 1, 2024, involving an entrepreneur in the scrap metal disposal sector. During the incident, the victim was shot eight times by a group of masked assailants while closing the gate of his business. The entrepreneur, severely injured, was transported to the hospital and discharged after a lengthy hospitalization; however, he passed away on September 16 due to causes unrelated to the ambush. Investigations conducted by the military unit of the Brescia Investigative Division led to the arrest of eight individuals linked to a criminal network involved in drug trafficking and tax evasion. The operations revealed the presence of a municipal police officer from Desenzano among the members of the gang, accused of organizing illegal activities alongside a businessman from Bergamo and other Moroccan individuals. The charges include attempted murder, attempted robbery, and conspiracy to commit drug trafficking. During searches conducted in the surrounding provinces, weapons and false tax documents related to invoices issued for non-existent transactions were discovered, with an estimated value exceeding 450,000 euros. The arrests were made in response to the evidence collected to date, while maintaining the presumption of innocence until the conclusion of the trial. Italian Version
