A view from Limone towards infinity

Limone is undoubtedly one of the most charming towns on Lake Garda, and this year it is hosting a photographic exhibition: **_Luce d’altri tempi_** along Via Capitelli and Via Fontana, dedicated to the old Limone, featuring a series of images from the early 20th century: lemon vendors along the Gardesana, old sailing boats loading timber, fishermen on worn-out bise boats, proud washerwomen by the lake, the first campsite, daily life around the fountain, the De Pretis boat, and more. It is worth climbing up to **Villa Boghi Park**, passing through the underpass adorned by **J.Kola**: with vibrant glimpses of daily life: boys on bicycles, couples in cars, groups at concerts, mothers breastfeeding, and Limone illuminated by fireworks. Everything is festive and lively. In **Villa Boghi Park**—facing the Limone Town Hall, after the monument dedicated to **San Daniele Comboni**—the surrounding lawn hosts the exhibitions **_‘Presenze’_** featuring the sculptures **_“La grande Dama”_** and **_“Gelbe Liegende”_** by Matthias Sieff, and **_“Vital Balance”_**: visionary cosmic works by Uruguayan artist **Mauro Arbiza**: “the sun, the moon, embraces, questions.” **Mauro Arbiza** is an artist born in Uruguay in 1968. Through fluid lines, smooth surfaces, and volumes that seem to communicate with the child within us, he presents large installations in vibrant yellow, orange, and intense red. Through these cosmic sculptures, he aims to represent universal energy in constant motion. His style is characterized by a skillful use of materials: fiberglass and carbon fiber, along with bright primary colors, creating visually impactful compositions. By blending innovative techniques with deep symbolism, Arbiza explores ancient, fundamental themes, revealing a unique and original perspective. **Matthias Sieff**: Born in Cavalese (Trentino) in 1982, he resides in the heart of the Dolomites and has come to Lake Garda to celebrate its charm with an essential style. **Sieff’s works**, in their compositional structure, are elemental and evoke large primitive sculptures that, even in ancient times, expressed a deep connection between matter and spirit. With pure lines and powerful volumes, he transforms wood, stone, and metals into large tangible symbols of human emotions, reflecting the coexistence of strength and fragility in the human condition, while simultaneously fostering a dialogue between the observer and the artwork. **_La Grande Dama_** and **_La Gelbe Liegende_** represent the search for balance between physical presence and introspection, between monumentality and intimacy, suggesting a link between the present and remote cultural roots. His figures seem to emerge from the material as if liberated, painted in intense colors, gaining further expressive power. I first admired Sieff’s early works at the Civic Gallery of Trento, and later his **_Regina Rossa_** reached me in Valle Aurina, winning the **International Wood Sculpture Symposium** held by the municipality every summer in 2018. It is now located in the beautiful sculpture park of the village of Lutago, behind the sun gate and in front of the playground. Valle Aurina is a single municipality that encompasses several villages in the same valley, surrounded by a crown of mountains that still had traces of snow this year. In the park, amid the blue sky and the lush greenery of the surrounding meadows and woods, the powerful figure of the **_Regina_** stands out: tall with large eyes lost in a voluminous head, an aloof bearing, and a red dress, her feet firmly planted on the ground. She dominates over the other works. I hope for a **link** with my story **_passaggio in valle aurina_**, published in 2015, so that readers from the Garda area can discover how much natural and cultural beauty continues beyond Lake Garda towards Trentino-Alto Adige. Let’s return to the **Limone event**: the park also hosts various succulent plants, some flowering, others evergreen, agaves with large leaves open to soak up the sun, and others with flowers soaring upward in a cascade of buds. Below, among the plants and sculptures, a discreet lemon grove showcases the first green and yellow lemons amidst dense foliage. The artistic path, oriented towards the lake’s gulf, is set in a unique frame, inviting contemplation. It will be open to visitors free of charge until the end of October. Limone awaits you, hurry up!! Italian Version
