Murder of Sinti in Lonato: interrogation and investigations in the gypsy camp
A murder shook the community of Lonato on October 2, 2025, when 44-year-old Dolores Dori was killed in the local Roma camp. Roberto Held, a 50-year-old man from the Sinti community, presented himself to the carabinieri and claimed to have acted in self-defense. The dispute that led to the murder appears to be rooted in familial conflicts between the two involved families: Dolores’s family, linked to Camponogara, and Held’s family. Accumulated tensions culminated in an assault organized by the victim’s mother, known as the “Queen of the Sinti of Pistoia.” The investigation into the murder quickly gained momentum, focusing on the complex dynamics within the Roma camp and the social interactions among the members of the involved families. Investigators are examining various testimonies and evidence collected from the surrounding camps to clarify what transpired. Currently, Roberto Held is in custody awaiting further developments in the investigation, which continues to reveal underlying tensions within the Sinti community. Italian Version
