Garda Trentino Half Marathon: triumph of women’s running
The Garda Trentino Half Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, November 9, is shaping up to be a historic event, with female participation reaching an impressive 51% of the total registrants. For the first time in its 23 editions, the number of women surpasses that of men, with 3,185 runners out of a total of 6,245 participants. The event features several competitions, including the flagship distance of 21K, a 10K, a 5 km run, and the Kids Garda Run. The race has seen steady growth following the pandemic, also highlighting a significant percentage of athletes from abroad, accounting for 66%. The event not only promises impressive numbers but also a revamped course that will start from the Palafiere area and finish near the Giardini di Porta Orientale. Athletes can look forward to the return of German runner Thea Heim and a competitive male field dominated by African runners such as Louis Intunzinzi and Jean Marie Vianney Niyomukiza. During the Expo leading up to the race, there will be gastronomic moments and entertainment, while all competitors will receive a red ribbon as a symbol of solidarity against violence towards women. Additionally, an “After-race party” open to everyone is planned at the PalaFiere, making the event not only a sporting occasion but also a social and cultural gathering. Italian Version
